Surge Protectors

What is a Surge Protector?

Surge protector offer protection in power circuits by sacrificing themselves. The energy that might have damaged your equipment is absorbed or reduced by the protector instead.

What should I look for in a surge protector?
• Energy absorption/dissipation
Represented in Joules, this rating tells you how much energy the surge protector can absorb before it fails. A higher number indicates greater protection. For entry level protectors, looks for minimum ratings of 200 to 400 Joules, and for better protection look for ratings above 1,500 Joules.

• Response Time
There is a very slight delay before a surge protector responds to a power surge. Look for a surge protector that responds in less than twenty nanoseconds. The lower the number, the quicker the board responds. High end protectors can respond in one nanosecond.

• Indicator Light
All surge protectors will fail after repeated surges. Higher end alternatives utilise an indicator light, which will be illuminated when the board is protected.

About Signals

Primarily, your antenna needs to cover the range of channels used in your area.

FM - Frequency Modulation
FM radio is a radio signal used in all areas throughout Australia. FM is host to many popular radio stations.

VHF - Very High Frequency
VHF is predominantly used in the major Metropolitan areas such as Brisbane, Sydney, Hobart, Melbourne and Perth.

UHF - Ultra High Frequency
UHF is predominantly used in Rural areas such as Geelong, Cairns and Geraldton and for picking up stations such as SBS and Ch31.

Digital TV
Digital (like Analogue) refers to the way TV signals are sent and received by your TV. A digital signal provides better picture quality and sound as well as broader choice of free to air channels.

Signals in Regional Areas
To check which frequency you require to receive your favourite program, please check the relevant network website, or visit the ACMA 'Search for broadcaster by postcode' feature.

How to Choose an Outdoor Antenna
Selection is based on location and used in conjuction with a quality 75ohm, low loss coaxial cable. For digital reception, select a coax cable with quadshielding to prevent signal interruption and loss.

Select the model from the range that best suits your location. |
• Metro medium gain for most suburbs
• Metro inner city with high front to back ratio UHF/VHF
• Metro high gain fringe antenna UHF/VHF
• Regional UHF high gain

Signal Gain Explained
Measured in dB, gain assists in receiving weaker signals. A higher gain will improve reception.
signals. A higher gain will improve reception.

TV Cleaners
Cleaning your LED, LCD or Plasma TV
Over time dust, grime and fingerprints can build up and detract from your crystal clear picture. Use a Crest TV screen cleaner to keep your flat panel looking like new.
• Do not use ammonia based products (such as window cleaning agents) as these can damage your tv screen.
• Only use a microfiber cloth or pad. Wood based products, such as paper towel can scratch your screen.
• Use only isopropyl alcohol-free formulas.

Get the best picture from your DVD or Media Player

Dust and grime that build up in DVD players and VCRs can cause poor picture quality. These issues can also affect the performance of your equipment. Mantain the quality of your components with a Crest Universal lens cleaner or video head cleaner.

Scratch free is the way to be
Sometimes a CD or DVD just won't play! Even the smallest of scratches can have an effect on your music and movie quality. Use a Crest radial disc cleaner or scratch repair kit to keep your discs playing like new
