Engineers who would later form the Altec Lansing Company developed the theatre sound system for
the first 'talking picture', The Jazz Singer.
1945
. Altec Lansing enters the home market with home loudspeakers, amplifiers and television receivers.
1948
. Altec created the first high-fidelity sound equipment designed specifically for home use.
1953
. Altec's 'Voice of the Theatre' became the only motion picture speaker systems approved by the Research Council of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
1961
. Altec Lansing introduced the first transistorised compressor amplifier.
1965
. Altec Lansing speakers were used at the Beatles' concert in Shea Stadium.
1967
. Altec Lansing developed the first modular, solid-state broadcast and recording console.
1973
. Billboard Magazine reported that more Altec monitor loudspeakers were used in recording studios than all other brands combined.
1982
. Altec Lansing built almost 4,000 channels of power amplification for Disney's Epcot Centre.
1990
. Altec introduced the first PC audio system.
1995
. Altec created the world's first computer speaker surround sound system with built-in Dolby Pro-Logic circuitry.

. Altec Lansing introduced the market's first portable speaker system for the iPod.
2008
. Altec launches the world's first iPhone dock.
2008
. Altec launches the world's first 2.2 PC speaker system with 2 integrated down firing subwoofers.
2011
. Altec launches the world's first iPad docking system.
